NJ Architects set to make a splash for charity
We are looking forward to making a splash at a charity dragon boat race this summer.
We have pulled together a team of 15 from Nicholas Jacob Architects to fundraise for the event, which is being held in aid of Fresh Start New Beginnings – a treatment service for victims of child sexual abuse.
The race is set to be a fantastic spectacle of colour on the Ipswich Waterfront and it promises to be great fun.
We will be joining 20 other teams to paddle to the beat of a drummer down the River Orwell on June 2 in dragon boats emblazoned with dazzling designs.
FSNB fundraiser Patsy Johnson-Cisse said she was delighted to see businesses like ours get involved.
“We hope to raise £10,000 in sponsorship on the day. Just £2,500 can help rebuild a child’s future that means we can help four more children waiting for our help,” she said. “The more teams who sign up to take part, the more children we can help.”
FSNB currently works with around 200 children – with 40 on their waiting list – many of whom have been sexually abused. Volunteers support youngsters by helping them take away feelings of blame, shame and guilt.
The dragon boat race is linked to Chinese New Year.
Spectators are welcome and the event, sponsored by the EADT, will be accompanied by an all-day riverside extravaganza with activities such as colouring competitions and face painting brightening up spectator areas.
These activities are being organised by Ipswich Haven Marina and AB Ports and will also include the chance to try Dragon Boat Racing on dry land with a simulator set up.
Classics on the Quay and the ISMOC mini club will be displaying many local classic minis.
